Marivoll Resort has grown naturally from Marivoll Camping. The modern campsite must constantly develop its identity and appeal in order to meet the guests' expectations of a popular resort. Since 2000, Marivoll Resort has built itself up substantially, and the corporate market has responded positively, becoming a big part of our client base.

Marivoll Peninsula
Marivoll forms a peninsula at the mouth of the fjord to the east of Grimstad. Out here Nature has created the region's most beautiful island seascape, with cliffs, sandy beaches, swathes of greenery, a diversity of flora and abundant animal and bird life. Small boats merrily ply the waters of Smørsund and through Hampholmsundet, tying up for a few restful hours in Paradisbukta (Paradise Bay) at Marivoll.

The resort
In recent years Marivoll has evolved to become Grimstad's biggest resort. The area is ideal for walking and for pure recreation. Marivoll is suitable for handicapped visitors, with paved paths for wheelchairs right out to the skerries. Here a small beach has been developed with a fishing quay – you can even cook your meal by the sea on the fixed barbecue grills. Rossekniben is a great vantage point for walkers: splendid views of the Marivoll peninsula and the skerries beyond.

Osterkilen
Marivoll Camping is well known to summertime radio listeners for the reports of bath temperatures at Osterkilen. At one time there was a very popular swimming stadium out here, with grandstand facilities and a 10 metre diving tower, that drew people to the town. In particular, the Sandnes and Stavanger swimming club visited Grimstad every summer, and legend has it that money was collected in Rogaland during this period to maintain the swimming stadium in Grimstad, which suffered the ravages of winter.
