Geilo is strong on unspoilt mountain charm and family skiing. A largish resort with an interesting history, it was built on the pioneering railway line carved through the mountains between Oslo and Bergen: this can be a nice way into the story. Geilo is reputedly the best family resort in Scandinavia, and an all-round wintersports centre for all ages.
