Gol and Golsfjellet
The family friendly mountain and the gateway to the fjords.

Gol is the capital in Hallingdal, and situated in the centre of Southern Norway, and a perfect starting point for day trips to the Fjord district, the Jotunheimen Mountain and the eastern vallies. Gol is a natural traffic centre between Oslo and Bergen.

When the suns shines…

The idyllic mountain area can be explored by bicycle, on foot, by boat, on a horseback or visit summer pasture farms.

With its mild climate, Gol can tempt you with a number of excellent places to swim in crystal-clear water in rivers and lakes. A water theme park has a temperature of 28 degrees C - all year round. Gol is the shopping centre for the region Hallingdal, and offers wide selection of shops in all categories. There is an abundance of free parking as well.

When autumn colours glow…..
– A symphony in red, orange, gold and green. It is the time to harvest the fruits of nature`s tempting pantry. Mushrooms pop up from the forest floor, patches of reddening mountain cranberries and sweet blueberries are there for picking. Observe the wildlife, maybe you can see an elk.

When the snow falls…..
Whether you just want a slow ski trip to enjoy the sun and snow, or prefer a good workout, Gol and Golsfjellet have ski tracks to suit you. There are more than 250 well-prepared ski tracks where everyone will find a track to suit them whatever skills and level of ambitions.

Since most of the tracks start in the mountains, you don't have to tire yourself out before the trip starts. Tree ski center in Gol offers sledding slopes, downhill and snowboard parks, and are good starting points for cross country skiing. Perhaps you prefer a slow ride in a horse sled, or even the speed and excitement of a snowmobile or to test the ice skating rinks of natural ice.

You are guaranteed to find a cabin, camping park or hotel that suits your needs, and to enjoy tasty meals in restaurants and cafés. Gol is an excellent centre for roundtrips by car, bus, train and boat.
