The Gausta area and Rjukan have much to offer in terms of activities and attractions. Stay with us in a cabin or apartment and use us as a base for visiting such attractions as Gaustatoppen for a splendid walking tout. Gaustatoppen, thought by many to be Norway's most beautiful mountain, towers majestically over Rjukan at 1883 metres over sea level. We also have several fishing lakes nearby as well as the many beautiful trails.
In wintertime the Gausta area is a paradise for skiers with trails in all categories, from the simplest slopes to the more challenging off-piste routes – even from Gaustatoppen! For those who prefer cross country, we have 80 kilometres of wellgroomed trails in breathtaking scenery. Or, if you prefer, Rjukan is considered one of the best places for ice climbing.
Summer or winter, we can recommend a range of activities including a visit to the Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum or the ultramodern swimming pool at Rjukan, or a trip on the Krossobanen or Gaustabanen cable cars. Here with us you can lux-uriate in peace and tranquillity or test yourself in extreme sports. It is you who decide the pace.
