Haugastøl is situated just on the edge of the largest highland plateau in Northern Europe with two national parks on our doorstep. - The Hardangervidda and the Hallingskarvet National Park. In addition we are located less than one hour drive from the fjords of Hardanger. We are therefore fortunate to offer our guests a unique terrain to view and explore.

Haugastøl is also the starting point of Rallarvegen. Rallarvegen is a 100 year old man built transport road designed for the conveyance of men and materials during the building phase of the most mountainous section of the Oslo-Bergen railway line. Rallarvegen is widely recognized as the most popular, and most scenic bikeroute in Norway with over 25 000 cyclists conducting the route every year. We offer package deals including accommodation, meals, bike rental and train transportation. Season is June- September.

During the winter season Haugastøl is a center for the new actionsport Snowkiting. The Hardangervidda mountain plateau offers huge areas and stabile wind conditions throughout the entire winter. The season usually stretches from December til mid-May. Our kiteschool offers beginner lessons and rental of kite equipment.
