The Nature
Haukeliseter is situated 1000 meters above sea level on the shore of a crystal clear lake, amongst mighty mountains. To the north you’ll find the biggest national park in Norway, Hardangervidda; a majestic area of wilderness with Northern Europe’s biggest wild reindeer herd. To the south lies Setesdalsheiene. Both areas provide excellent trekking/skiing opportunities the whole year around and are easily reached from our doorstep. Haukeliseter provides advice and guided tours that’ll lead you to flowers and little streams, to summits and glaciers...

We also provide boats, kayaks, skis, snowshoes and fishing equipment so that you can fully enjoy what mother nature offers.

The Wilderness Spa
What can be more peaceful and relaxing then to sit in the sauna and watch the sun set behind the mountains through the panoramic window? The answer: When you half an hour later watch the starlit sky from the outdoor hot-tub after a swim in the glacial lake…

The Restaurant
Ranked as the 7th best restaurant in all of Norway, Haukeliseter offers excelent food in breathtaking surroundings and in 19th century buildings. On the plates, little Norway melts in with the rest of the world, with unusual and delicate flavours as a result. A crossover concept where we mix local and traditional ingredients — such as lamb, reindeer and trout — with international cooking art, particularly from the Mediterranean.

The Rooms
Here at the charming Haukeliseter we have learned that people are different and hence we offer a variety of different rooms. Everything from modern hotel rooms to the picturesque hostel facilities in the “stabbur” from 1886.

Finding us
….is easy. Road E134 between Oslo and Bergen/Stavanger passes right behind Huakeliseter. We’re between the towns Røldal and Haukeli, on the roads highest point over Haukelifjell. We are only between three and five hours away from all major cities in southern Norway. You can take car or coach right into the wilderness on your journey through Norway. Though easy to reach from civilisation, we only have nature as neighbour. In all directions.
