Close to Heddal stavkyrkje. 15 buildings from c.1500 to 1930, ranging from a rich farm to a cottar`s humble croft. One building represents early 20th century rural roadwork.

In the protected ”Rambergstugo”, you will see the masterpiece of the famous rose-painter Olav Hansson from 1784 and an exhibition about the creator of the modern ”Aust -Telemarksbunaden”, Anne Bamle. ”Hola”, the cottar`s croft, presents living conditions of this especially Norwegian class of small, dependent farmers of recent centuries. The museum as a whole illustrates a local farming community of approximately two centuries ago. Three of the buildings are protected by law.
