The region offers a diversity of experiences, large and small, in a relatively small area. At Ørje locks on the E18, the Halden Canal runs through the district, creating a unique ambience, complete with a small fleet of old-fashioned steamships. The waterway, its history and environment are the subjects of the Canal Museum (Haldenvassdragets Kanalmuseum), which doubles as a cultural and activities centre and boasts no fewer than five separate aquariums. |
