The museum has a magnificent collection of opera costumes, furniture, artefacts, photos portraying Kirsten Flagstad, both as an artist and as an individual, programs, pressclippings, recordings and tapes. We offer a film about her fantastic life and career, and also a new audioguide in Norwegian, English and German.
Kirsten Flagstad was born in Strandstuen, Hamar on July 12th 1895. She grew up in a very musical family, and her talent was evident from an early age. In 1935 she made her debut at The Metropolitan Opera in New York City as “Sieglinde” in Wagner’s opera “Die Walküre”. A great star was born that morning.
