The Kistefos Museum is situated in beautiful surroundings by the river “Randselva” in Jevnaker, just an hour from Oslo and 45 minutes from Oslo Airport Gardermoen.
The former Kistefos Wood Pulp Mill is today an industrial museum and the only remaining Scandinavian wood pulp mill. Besides presenting an important chapter of Norwegian industrial history, the museum offers annual art exhibitions by Norwegian and international artists.
The sculpture parc was initiated in the late nineties, and has continued to grow each year. The first sculptures were mainly made by Norwegians. Today, however, the beautiful lawns surrounding the old factory buildings are filled with 24 works by internationally renowned contemporary artists such as Anish Kapoor, Fernando Bottero, Elmgreen & Dragset and Tony Cragg.
Within a decennium, the Sculpture Park has become one of the most comprehensive collections of outdoor sculpture in Norway. The encounter with Kistefos-Museet is thus an encounter with magnificent nature, art and culture, continuously changing and expanding. The café is an idyllic oasis where one can have a delicious lunch, homemade cakes or enjoy a cup of fresh coffee. In connection with the café you will find the museum shop.
