Eastern Norway » Lands Museum

Lands Museum was established in 1927 to record and preserve the history of Nordre and Søndre Land municipalities. Today it is a regional competence centre for cultural and natural history, and is especially active in heritage conservation and international wetlands work. The museum’s centre is in Dokka, where there are over 35 historic buildings. Here you can see the cotter’s modest house, and compare it with that of the farm owner, or take a stroll among the trees and discover a forest worker’s cabin.

There are houses and buildings that take you from the Middle-Ages and into the last century. In the house from the large farm Thomle are superb mid 18th century decorations painted by one of Norway’s foremost rococo artists, Peder Aadnes (1739-1792). Guided tours June-August.
