Eastern Norway » Prøysenhuset
A museum built in memory of the author, songwriter, artist and man Alf Prøysen. His voice is known to all Norwegians and at the time he was more famous than Elvis Presley in Norway. His fictional character “Mrs. Pepperpot” has been a part of children’s literature from Japan to Island, translated into 23 different languages. Alf Prøysen was born in 1914, the son of a tenant farmer. Today his birthplace is a part of the museum. In addition to the tenant farm “Prøysenstua”, the museum “Prøysenhuset” contains an exhibition where you can learn more about his life and authorship. It also contains the worlds larges “Mousehole” – a playground build with one of Prøysens most famous childrensongs as a theme. In July the week long music- and theatrefestival “Prøysenfestivalen” takes place in his honour.
