Eastern Norway » Selstali Mountain Farm
Welcome to the Selstali Mountain Farm in the Gausdalen Valley in Tinn County.
Since 1974, the Röysland family has run this Mountain-farm – here at the foot of the majestic Mt. Gaustatoppen.
According to local traditions, we produce farm butter, sour cream, brown whey-cheese and the very special Staulsost cheese. We also make use of the milk when cooking the famous ”Römmegröt” - (a sour cream porridge) and our ”Sauplapp” - pancakes. We also serve cured meat.
Every summer, we have approx. 10 cows and some calves on the grazing land surrounding the farm. For the kids visiting us, we also have 2-3 lambs to cuddle with.
If you would like to stay a couple of days in the area, we have 2 nice log cabins for rent. There are sleeping accommodation for up to 5 people in each cabin. The cabins are fully equipped – you only need to bring your own sheets, quilt and pillow-cases.
If you like trout-fishing, we can offer 10 beautiful lakes in the area surrounding Selstali. The appropriate fishing permit can be purchased at the farm. The area also has several easy-to-walk paths if you enjoy wandering.
Your hosts, Nanfrid and Sigmund Röysland wish you a pleasant stay at Selstali and also a delightful summer.
