P.S. "Skibladner" is the pride of the Mjøsa region, and one of Norway's best-loved tourist attractions. This preserved and restored paddle steamer is over 150 years old but continues to run a timetabled service in the summer months. Mjøsa is Norway's largest inland lake, an hour's drive north of the capital, Oslo.
The 2009 season starts on 23 June and ends on 14 August. Groups and parties can charter the ship from mid-May to mid-September. The ship has a luxurious restaurant seating approximately 60 persons, where breakfast, lunch and dinner are served. The most traditional dish is poached salmon with fresh strawberries for dessert. The restaurant is fully licensed. More than 20,000 passengers travel with Skibladner every season. Weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and other social gatherings are carried out onboard with great atmosphere. The menu can be tailored especially for companies and groups, along with the ship’s own wine that features a new label design from a local artist every year.
