Welcome to Skinnarbu Mountain Hotel, a beautifully situated resort hotel with all amenities (bar, restaurant, swimming pool, sauna, billiard, children play area, movie theatre and conference facilities), at the entrance to the fantastic Hardangervidda plateau in Norway, between the historically famous places of Rjukan and Rauland. There are museums and attractions in the nearby surrounding area; the Industry Workers Museum at Vemork including an exhibition about the heavy water plant sabotage during the second world war, the Krossobanen Cable car from downtown Rjukan right up to the Hardangervidda Plateau, the Gaustabanen Cable car, which conveniently transport you to the top of Gaustatoppen, the highest mountain peak in southern Norway.
Our nature is great for trekking. On beautiful Lake Møsvatn, the largest lake on Hardangervidda, the ferry Fjellvåken will take you to Mogen and Argehovd, a roadless and picturesque community. Also you can take magnificent fishing or hunting trips in the immediate areas. Whilst you are moving about in our beautiful nature, do not be surprised to find yourself staring at an elk, deer or reindeer! Or you can experience the wild reindeer in the Center for wildlife next door to the hotel.
During winter, Skinnarbu is offering one of the premier cross-country terrains in Norway, allowing beautiful trips into the wilderness. Nearby there are also plenty of opportunities for down hill skiing in magnificent surroundings.
