MEET THE PEOPLE OF NORWAY!

One of Europe’s largest Open-Air Museums. Authentic houses from Norway’s many regions show how people lived from 1500 up to the present, in towns and in the countryside.

During summer the museum comes alive with hosts in traditional costumes and various activities such as traditional baking, folk dance and music, horse and carriage rides and traditional crafts. There are also domestic animals in the park. The museum is well set up for group visits lasting from 15 minutes to two hours.

The museum is open all year, with an emphasis on summer for the activities in the Open-Air Museum (except the annual Christmas Fair). Large indoor exhibits on Folk Art, Folk Dress and Sámi Culture. Also temporal exhibits.

Discounts for tour operators attainable with contract. On request we can also provide guided tours for a fee.

Please contact the museum for more information at: booking@norskfolkemuseum.no

In 2012, Gol Stave Church will be under restoration and access will be limited. Special adjustments will be made so that the public can follow the process and experience traditional craftsmanship.
