Vaset is located in Vestre Slidre municipality in the region known as Midt-Valdres, Oppland county, on the border between Valdres and Hemsedal. From here it is a short distance to the slopes in Hemsedal. Many know Vaset as one of the most attractive holiday areas in Valdres.

A family dream holiday
Vaset is a paradise for families with children -- a quiet spot free from hustle and bustle, where parents and children alike can enjoy themselves. Vaset has mile after mile of open spaces with working farms and pastures -- perfect for walks of any length, with or without a fishing rod on your back.

Vaset is also a paradise for cycling. Miles of child-friendly mountain bike paths lure tourists from all over Norway, and for several years in a row the cycle route through the area has been voted one of the country's finest cycling experiences. If you haven't brought your bike along, you can rent from Gomobu Fjellstue (mountain lodge).

Vaset offers opportunities for horseback riding and excursions by horse and cart. At Valdres Fjellaktiviteter you have dog sledding in summer and winter, moose safaris, and guided mountain tours with and without a pack dog. The agricultural festival (Stølsfestivalen) in July/August, when the whole village joins the party, features regional food, folk traditions and cultural events.

In winter it is just as easy to get used alpine skis and snowboards for the slope as cross country skis for the unique network of well prepared ski tracks that connects all of the Valdres district together.

All sorts of activities
Vaset offers unique opportunities for hunting and fishing. Large parts of Vestre Slidre are common land where hunting and fishing are open to all – with a valid card, that is .... Vaset Shopping Centre and Camping sells hunting and fishing licenses. Brennabu offers canoe rentals and Vasestølen has small boats for hire. For anglers, lake Vaset is stocked with some real whoppers for that extra bit of excitement.

Vaset has several restaurants with traditional and a la carte menus, at Vasetstølen, Sekskanten Kro or Gomobu Fjellstue. Local farmhouse fare is also available at Stubbesetstølen, which also offers accommodation, as do Grindbutunet cabins, Nøsen Fjellstue and Brennabu.
