Finnmark » Vardø Museum

Vardø Museum was established in 1884 as a natural history museum, it is the oldest museum in Finnmark County. Today it is a modern cultural history museum with a number of thematic exhibitions.
The Pomor museum documents the history of trade between Russia and northern Norway for a period of over 300 years. It is located in the centre of Vardø in the former Brodtkorb wharfs.
The Partisan museum in Kiberg tells the story of the partisan movement in Finnmark during World War II. Partisans were engaged mainly with intelligence work behind the German lines, sending information to the Soviet Union.
Steilneset memorial was opened in June 2011, a part of The National Tourist routes of Norway. It is a memorial to the 91 persons convicted of sorcery and burnt at the stake in Finnmark County. The installation consists of an artwork by Louise Bourgeois housed in the architecture of Peter Zumthor.
