Welcome to Nedre Øieren Farm Nedre Øieren farm is situated on a secluded spot, on high terrain in the midst of a scenic landscape affording a beautiful view of Øierskogen forest and surrounding woods. The whole atmosphere encourages a sensation and feeling similar to what the first Finns must have experienced when they arrived here in the 1600s. Nedre Øieren is located in Brandval Finnskog, in Kongsvinger County. Both the town of Kongsvinger and the Swedish town Torsby are 40 km from the farm Nedre Øieren. The unique surroundings are ideally suited for those inclined to hiking, bicycling, canoeing, hunting or fishing, or enjoy other forms of outdoor activities. Here you will find every opportunity for rest and recreation. Nedre Øieren is far removed from the stress and hustle of civilization; what you get at our farm are the strong impulses of nature... Perhaps you will feel the ever present history and mystique on body and soul as you slow down the pace and let all the impulses and impressions seep into your consciousness. A visit to the beautiful countryside at Nedre Øieren, cleared and culyivated by the early Finns in the 1600s, while reflecting on the many accumulated memories from life on the homestead 5-6 generations back, might give you a perspective on the life we lead today. All the impressions and impulses present in the atmosphere of the farm may also provide you with impulses and guide you in making the right choices in your own life. In addition to enjoying the view of magnificent forest as far as the eye can see, there are exellent possibilities for bicycling, or swimming, fishing or canoe paddling i Lake Øieren, or other near by lakes in the Finnskog area. The land where Nedre Øieren farm is sistuated was cleared by Finns who came from Savolaks via Sweden. Today, the farm is run by me, Paal Øieren, and I am the 9th user and the 5th owner, originating from the Karvainen family name. Today the land constitutes 13 acres of cultivated soil used for production of hay, and 500 acres of woodland. I work an agraian consultant with the department of agriculture at Kongsvinger County and as a forestry administrator for another forest property. The cowshed at Nedre Øieren was used as such from 1933 to 1952. In 1997 the remodelling of the cowshed was finished, and since then it has been used for living quarters including living room, hallway, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, shower and sauna. Whether young or old, I hope you will have a pleasant stay here. |
