Statsraad Lehmkuhl is one of the world´s most prestigious sailing ships. You come aboard as a sail trainee, which means that you participate in the activities of the ship. You´ll be on duty with professional sailors, doing everything from keeping watch, steering the ship, fire inspections to working in the galley. Great care is taken to preserve the maritime traditions, especially sailing maneuvers. To many people climbing the rigging is the ultimate sailing experience, but this is completely voluntary. Between the duties there might be time for some shanty singing or knot work… Your quarters are below deck in hammocks, like in the good old days. You have to bring your own sleeping bag. In addition to all this, we are also serving excellent, delicious food on board.

Aboard the ship you will meet people from different countries, backgrounds and generations. When you are out on the ocean and the sails are set, companionship is all that matters. The atmosphere on board is indescribable, it has to be experienced!
