The Norwegian Armed Forces Museum organisation consists of seven major military museums nationwide.

The Armed Forces Museum (Forsvarsmuseet) is the main museum, located in Akershus fortress in the center of Oslo. This is a historical museum depicting Norwegian military history. The exhibitons start in the Viking era abt. 900 AD, through numerous Nordic wars when Norway was under Danish rule (1400-1814), the period of union with Sweden leading up to independence (1814-1905) and cover the Second World War as well as more modern history. A number of interesting models and artefacts are found in the museum, and the exhibits allow the visitor to follow technical and historical progress throughout the centuries.

Norways Resistance Museum (Norges Hjemmefrontmuseum) is also located on Akershus Fortress and shows Norwegian history during the German occupation in World War II. Oslo, +47 23 09 31 38

Oscarsborg festningsmuseum is situated on a small island in the Oslofjord. Gives glimpses of history connected to the costal artillery and the sinking of the German cruiser Blücher on 9th April 1940 when Norway was attacked by the Germans. Drøbak +47 64 90 41 60

Marinemuseet is the main museum for history of the Norwegian Navy. It is situated in Horten. The museum dates back to 1853 and posesses rare and exciting items from the founder's private collection. Horten +47 33 03 33 97

Luftforsvarsmuseet in Bodø depicts the history of the Norwegian airforce, and is well worth a visit. Bodø +47 75 53 78 95

At Bergenhus fortress in Bergen, is a museum covering the history of women connected to our military history; the story of the local resistance during World War II as well as a part showing general military history of the region.
