Eldorado for Anglers
Located at the entrance to Trondheimsfjorden, Hitra is the largest Norwegian island south of Lofoten. The landscape changes from wild, open moorland to thick pine forests and rocky terrain. Hitra has excellent fishing lakes with trout and char, the densest population of deer in Europe, and a rich birdlife with many species of seabirds.
Hitra is fantastic in glorious summer weather but the nature experience can be equally uplifting when the north wind blows head on, when snow swirl in frosty cold moonlight nights.
The fish bite all year and Angelamfi is full of action summer and winter.
The fishing spots near Angelamfi Ansnes are exceptionally good. Besides cod, saithe, red-fish and haddock, Ansnes is the optimum starting point for angling after magnificent ling and cod since to succeed in this sport you have to have at least 150 to 250 meters water beneath you.
Angelamfi Grefsnesvågen lies on the west side of Hitra, on the extremely fish-rich Frøyfjorden. The area is particularly known for its feisty Pollack. These waters are also abundant in other species such as cod and various oceanic species, and with a bit of luck you might hook a monkfish or halibut.
There are excellent spots for catching red-fish, and specialists in sea angling can test their skills in the famous “Blålanghølen” which is 400 meters deep.

Hitra is also a veritable eldorado for trout fishing, with some 700 freshwater lakes, in the periods of April/May, September/October and of course ice fishing in the winter.
