Førjulsmartnan (pre-Christmas Market) The pre-Christmas Market, which is held annually in mid-November in Nordli, attracted a respectable 1800 visitors in 2006. The exhibitors are spread among various locations, including Lierne community centre and the Nordli museum. A free market bus travels between the different sites. Nordli museum comprises several different buildings, among them a stabbur (a traditional food storehouse on a raised foundation of heavy timbers), and an old-fashioned kårstue, or cottage. Another attraction is a typical 1950s apartment furnished in the style of the day. "Bjønnlabben" is performed in connection with the annual Li-Martna weekend, which is the last weekend in July. The play is staged in the splendid amphitheatre Amfi Lierne at Sørli museum. "Bjønnlabben - en fangstmanns historie" ("The Bear Paw – a huntsman's story"), by Hans Magnus Ystgård, takes as its starting point the degree to which nature has been crucial to life here in the border country. Hunting, fishing and the bounty of the forests and mountains were the foundation of the local community, while the development of small farmsteads ensured that there would always be food on the table even when nature was less than cooperative. The play portrays a culture and daily existence that was both harsh and complex, but also a life lived in freedom where nature both gave and took away. "Bjønnlabben" was performed by Erlend Hammer Hanssen, Laila Totsås and Janne Brit Rustad in 2007.
