The Verdal Fortifications The Værdal Fortifications (De Værdalske Befestninger) are encountered via an exhilarating walk along a footpath through an historic landscape of foaming rapids, lush vegetation and sheer rock faces. Nordre and Søndre Galleri (Northern and Southern Gallery) are the two tunnel galleries which make up the main part of the Værdal Fortifications. The sites consist of two tunnels on each flank of the hillside, separated by the river Inna.

Nordre Galleri is a 90 metre long cavern in a straight line, which contains emplacements for two cannons and five machine guns.

The Søndre Galleri cavern is of equal length, but on several levels and with two 90 degree bends, and similarly includes emplacements for two cannons and five machine guns.
