THE KNUT HAMSUN CENTRE The Knut Hamsun Centre is a national centre of Knut Hamsun (1859 – 1952), his life and work. The Knut Hamsun Centre is located by the Glimma ocean current, in a cultural landscape surrounded by majestic scenery, almost a pristine as in Hamsun`s days. The architect of the building is designed by the American architect Steven Holl. It was completed on Knut Hamsun`s 150 th anniversary August 4 th 2009, and opened for public in June 2010. Experience Steven Holls Hamsun character in architectonic terms, and the exhibition about the life and writing of Hamsun. In the tower you also find the library, a cafè and a gift shop with books and design products. In the auditorium you can attend lectures, conferences, workshops, concerts, film, theatre and other culture events. From the tall tower of the centre you may enjoy a unique view of Hamsun`s own domain, which inspired him to write world – renowned books such Pan, Growth of the Soil and Vagabonds.

THE OLD MERCHANT`S CENTRE ON KJERRINGØY The old merchant`s centre on Kjerringøy is a unique site from the 19 th century. Situated in the breathtaking scenic landscape of Kjerringøy, a peninsula 24 miles north of Bodø, it is on of the regions most popular tourist attractions. The merchant`s centre was established in the late 1700s, and tells a story of the importance of fish export in the northern parts of Norway the last three centuries. At the museum you can visit 15 authentic buildings, attend guided tours, shop at the old general store, and experience the history and heritage of Kjerringøy and northern Norway.
SULITJELMA SHOW MINE Go on a journey deep underground where the miners worked for over one hundred years. Before the trip you equip yourself like a miner with boots, helmet and lamps. We take a train 1,5 km into the mountain where there is a guided tour. During the trip you become acquainted with mining terminology, you learn where the ore is in the mountain and how it was extracted and refined.
