FOOD - one of many temptations in the North of Norway. An abundant pantry – with the world’s finest ingredients – is the main item on the Arctic Menu.
Culinary traditions or new dishes – the choice is yours. You can visit Arctic Manu Restaurants from Brønnøysund in the south, via Svalbard and to Honningsvåg in the North.
What is Arctic Menu? Arctic Menu is a network of 39 enthusiastically run cafés and restaurants in the North of Norway. The object is to serve traditional and new dishes based on local ingredients and to promote the local products and businesses. The participants represent a wide range of dishes and menus and we hope that Arctic Menu will manage to increase the interest in the food culture of North Norway.
Arctic Menu is owned by the North Norwegian Association of Travel Companies (RBL Nord Norge) and is partly funded by the Regional Council of North Norway. The participants contributes by a membership fee and work hours. Arctic Menu works together with guilds, cookery colleges, education authorities and lately also suppliers.
Culinary inspiration Inspiration makes for good food, and good food is important. That is one of the reasons why Arctic Menu organizes seminars for our members. To achieve our goal of high quality food we have commissioned such culinary capacities as Charles Tjessem, the winner of Bocuse’d Or 2003, and Roy Magne Berglund, Fish Cook of the Year 2000.
