Hasvik Hotel and fishingcamp, in the heart of Sørøya- Land of the big fish
Hasvik hotel is situated on Sørøya, on the edge of the Barents sea in one worlds richest fishing grounds. Every year hundreds of deep-sea fishermen visit us for the hunt of the big fish. 

In the summertime you`re angeling under the midnightsun and continuous daylight during two exotic months, and in the wintertime during the polar nights, you can feel the magic of catching the big cod or the monster-halibut under the dancing northern lights. Due to our northerly location, we have a rugged and magnificent scenery with frequently shifting weather! This makes every deep sea fishing trip a unique experience, regardless of the time of the year.

A german visitor told us that the superlatives needed to decribe Sørøya have not yet been invented! And yes, it is difficult and therefore here are some facts about fishing in the land of the big fish. The Sørøy-festival, Sørøyas annual deep-sea fishing festival organized by the local deep-sea fishing club, is not only known for the biggest catches per participant, but also the largest fish of all Nordic festivals. Sørøya is the perfect place for extreme fish tales- most of them actually being true!

The average cod caught offshore is 5 – 10 kilos, and cods between 10 – 20 kilos is not unusual. Although cods over 20 kilos are not guaranteed, there is no other place in the world you are more likely to catch one that on Sørøya. Mr Sander Pieters, one of our regular guests, held the European record with a cod of 37,52 kilos for years. In april 2010 by a 10 year old local boy caught the biggest cod caught by an Norwegian since 1992. The old Norwegian record was a cod on 37,5 kilos, and the local boys record was 1,5 kilos bigger. The monster of a cod was actually 3 kilos heavier than the fisherman himself.

Facts
Hasvik hotel and fishingcamp has got 11 rooms, summerhouses and apartments. At the hotel we have a bistro, bar, conference room, outdoor grill and samilavvo. For the ultimate relaxation we can also offer a outdoor bath. Our boats are 19 feet, 50 Hp Yamaha boats with fishfinder and gps-plotter. Its also possible to rent larger boats on request. We have got private floating docks with cleaning and service-areas several places on the island.
