A Living Viking Museum in Lofoten! 

In iron-age Northern Norway there were about 10-15 chiefdoms, one of them was here at Borg. So far, this is the only place where the chieftains farm itself is found. With the biggest house from Viking age ever to be found.

Through excavations we have learned that the farm was established around 500 AD.

Row a Viking ship, take part in Viking activities, see handicrafts as they were made 1100 years ago and taste the Viking Museum’s lamb stew. Learn about the history of the Vikings at Borg, Lofoten!

A taste of the Viking age
Lofotr Viking Museum offers adventures with older North Norwegian food traditions as a basis. The visit is a time travel back to the viking age, with a unique experience of food and history. We also offer a number of additional arrangements.

Rowing tour with Viking ship
The Viking ships are reconstructions of the Gokstad Ship. A rowing tour with one of the ships is a unique experience, where you must learn to row as a team in order to move ahead. If you want a rowing tour included in the programme, we start your visit with this. The guests can borrow cloaks that they put on when they climb aboard. After the rowing, , you walk from the boathouse up to the Chieftain's estate.
