Saltstraumen - A fantastic natural phenomena with a settlement history of 10.000 years. Recognised as the "World’s Strongest Maelstrom", fascinating guests and local people alike, for over ten thousand years.

Every six hours the forces of nature demonstrate their awesome power by producing a show of spectacular proportions. The peak of the whirlpools appear when 400 million cubic meters of water rushes through a strait 3km long and 150m wide at speeds up to 20 knots. This is the magic of Saltstraumen and must be experienced!

Saltstraumen is known as an Anglers and Divers paradise with a breathtaking nature and wildlife.
