The Norwegian Mountain Museum in Lom is the national park centre for Jotunheimen and Reinheimen. The centre works to safeguard the natural values of these mountain areas through research and the provision of information. The museum aims to show how the interaction between people and the natural world has developed from a trapping culture to mass tourism, recreation and resource utilisation.

Some of what the Norwegian Mountain Museum has to offer:

  • Permanent exhibitions on the theme of ”Jotunheimen”, ”the Norwegian High Mountains” and ”Mammoth”
  • The “Mogop” multimedia programme about Norway’s national parks, our waterways and trips in Jotunheimen
  • Temporary exhibitions: “Reindeer, man and the mountains” and ”Greetings from Jotunheimen”
  • Exhibition about hunting weapons and reindeer antlers
  • Slideshow: ”Water from mountain to fjord”
  • Children’s corner and hidden treasure
