SMUKSJØSETER MOUNTAIN LODGE
- In the heart of Rondane National Park

Smuksjøseter Mountain Lodge is situated at 3700 feet above sea level, 5 km from the well-known tourist center Høvringen, and has the Rondane mountain range as its nearest neighbor. Like most tourist establishments in the area, Smuksjøseter was originally part of a "seter" (summer mountain cabin) with its own distinct traditions.

ACCOMMODATION
Like most other tourist businesses in these areas, Smuksjøseter is also originally a summer mountain cabin with its distinctive traditions. Thus, the lodge has preserved an old open fireplace built in the traditional Gudbrandsdal Style. Also bedroom units have the character of the old solid tradition. Besides shower/toilet, there is also found room for drying facilities for clothing and shoes.

We have expanded the lodge with a new building. This includes small and large apartments, 11 in total. Here one can stay with or without pension. The apartmentsare equipped with television with multiple channels and top of the line kitchen appliances. Some have balconies, massage baths and saunas. There is an underground corridor between the houses. Wireless Internet access in all rooms and apartments.

The dining room can accommodate 65 guests, and the cafeteria has 60 seats. Saunas, TV, marked trails, ski instruction and hunting and fishing opportunities are all activities available for your enjoyment. Once you visit Rondane, you’ll long to return year after year. Easy hikes for beginners and families, challenging hikes for the more experienced, activities and cultural events. We have a friendly atmosphere, good ski tracks and international clientele.

Rondane National Park is Norway's first of the larger, 963 km² with Ronde massif as a midpoint. This national park is the second most visited mountain area after Hardangervidda. The fauna consists of 21 species, 31 nesting bird species and 215 higher plant species. The highest peak rises to 7218 feet above the sea level. The path and trail network is well developed and can offer many various destinations suitable for all ages and fitness.

Høvringen is popular area in the Rondane National Park. Høvringen is situated approximately at 3116 feet above sea level, and is the gate to Rondane from west. The name means hovring/horseshoe, and comes probably from the mountains forming a semicircle around the property which in its time was the largest with over 40 summer cabins in use. Wonderful high mountain terrain extending up to 1,500 metres above sea level. Several of the trails have glorious views over the mountains and valleys. You may choose shorter trips closer to Høvringen or longer trips into Rondane. Smuksjøseter Mountain Lodge will give you a real mountain adventure!
