Oppland » Top Of Norway - Elveseter
Elveseter is an old farm situated in Bøverdalen valley, in Lom County. It was typical for the area both in size and how it was operated. However, more than a story about a farm, the story about Elveseter is the story about a family of gifted craftsmen and pioneers in the hotel and leisure industry, who dared to think differently and succeed.
Today, Inger and Rungne Elveseter are the owners and managers of Elveseter. Rungne`s parents, Jessie and Aamund, built Elveseter and Leirvassbu up to be nationally renowned tourist destinations. Tourists from all walks of life, queens, kings, and heads of state as well as internationally acclaimed adventurers have all visited Elveseter and Leirvassbu.
The family were always great collectors of art, which are on display today, including paintings of Norwegian masters as well as works from the great Norwegian wood carvers of the eighteenth century.
One of the characteristics of Elveseter is the use of names and symbology from the ancient Norse Mythology. Names as Midgard, Utgard, Tor and Odin makes history come alive and creates a bridge to modern time. Inger and Rungne builds on this history, but are currently embarked on a comprehensive restoration and modernisation of Elveseter in regards to the demands and expectations of a modern tourist destination.
Elveseter with its unique collection of artefacts, the old manor farm Sulheim and Leirvassbu with its location in the untouched wilderness of Jotunheimen, together have started a cooperation called Top Of Norway, to provide the best experience for our guests. Located in Bøverdalen and Leirdalen, we have more than 1000 years of tradition in culture and during the last 100 years we have been hosts for guests and mountain pioneers.
Together we invite you for an exciting holiday in the heart of the Norwegian mountains.
