Venabu nature activities are arranged by Venabu Fjellhotell, a family owned mountain hotel south of Rondane National Park, 78kms north of Lillehammer. We are a full service hotel, and have also 9 high standard cabins for hire for 2 -10 persons. Venabu is located in friendly and fascinating nature in Fjell-Norway – a nature you can explore! Direct bus to/from Oslo airport every Saturday in the seasons.

Guided walking: From approx 10th June till the end of August there are guided walks every day except Saturday at 15-25kms. Varied walks to canyons, waterfalls, peaks up to 2114m asl, over vast plateaus covered with lichen where the wild reindeer still roam.

Walking on your own: A net of marked trails will bring you through forests and up on approx 30 bigger and smaller peaks, passing lakes and small creeks – plenty of space and few people, fresh air and fresh water

Riding: From mid June to mid August we have approx 25 horses of local or Norwegian Breed – all friendly and reliable horses both for beginners and advanced.

Round trips by car: Venabu is excellent for discovering the unexplored Fjell-Norway as well as the fjords within reach, and situated on the mountain pass leading to the scenic Rondane National tourist road.

Cross country skiing: 120 kms marked and groomed trails in open mountains or sheltered forests, easy and varied terrain for beginners as well as advanced skiers. Ski instruction and hire of ski equipment. You can choose to ski on your own or join our guided tours, every day except Saturdays.

Ski safari: Guided ski tours for experienced skiers in March and April where the days are long and it is nice to have a picnic outside. The tours are from 15-35kms, also skiing along the the Troll-løype. For these tours steel edged mountains skis are essential, since most of the tours are back country skiing outside the prepared tracks or in the high mountains. This is the original skiing – the skis are means of transport in unspoiled nature!

Other activities: Canoes and bikes for hire. Photo courses. The Peer Gynt – open air play with beautiful setting and Grieg’s music. Slide shows twice a week from the Rondane mountains and the local flora by the owners.

Norwegian food: Traditional Norwegian food every Wednesday evening, where we tell about the dishes served. Summer farm meals on Tuesdays during summer. All days home made food, also a good choice of vegetarian dishes.
