Sapmi KS
Karasjok is the cultural and political capital of the Samis in Norwegian Lapland – or Sápmi – which is our own name for the area where we live. Amid the beautiful and fascinating scenery, you will find important Sami institutions, including the Sami Parliament with its unique building, the Sami Collections – the National Museum of the Sami Culture, NRK Sami Radio, the Sami National Library and the Sami Artists` Centre, to name just a few. For your holiday rich in memories and offering various exciting and exotic adventures, take a trip to Karasjok and experience activities based on Sami culture and tradition. The Samis have eight seasons in contrary to the common four. Whenever you visit us, we can offer you a range of exciting and exotic activities, varying widely with the seasons. The Sami village of Karasjok is home to Sami Cultural Park. We invite you into the world of the Sami people – to see our past and our present. Perhaps you`ll even be able to glimpse what the future holds in store as well? Sami Cultural Park offers a respectful and balanced picture of a living, vivid culture; the mythology, handicrafts, food and settlements are yours to experience. We hope you`ll see the world in a different view after you have visited us. Bures boahtin - Welcome ! |
