Amble gaard (The farm Amble)
Amble gaard is situated in Kaupanger (Sogndal community) in the inner part of Sognefjord, in the heart of "Fjord Norway". Amble gaard is an old, venerable farm, owned by the Heiberg family since 1690. We rent 7 different, traditional Norwegian wooden houses. 5 of the houses are from the period 1900- 1937, and all of them are restored the last years. 2 houses are new in 2010. All houses are situated without near neighbours and there is beautiful view from the houses to the Sognefjord and mountains. The 7 houses have beds for 50 people. The smallest house, a charming peasant home, suits well for 2-4 people. In the biggest house, a beautiful villa, 12 people have good space. Amble gaard has 20 hectars cultivable land, 1200 hectars forest and 1000 hectars mountains. We run Amble gaard organic with a production of apples and hey. We have some small animals, just for fun. In 2010: hens, cock, rabbits, cats and 2 horses. Boats and fishing
Amble gaard has rowing-boats laying in the the Sognefjord, which you can use free. On the estate there are lakes, where you can catch trout. As our guest you do not have to pay fishing license. The old summer dairy of Amble gaard is situated by one of the lakes. You are free to use the cottage there, and also a rowing-boat. Hikes
On our estate and in the whole region you have lots of possibilities for nice hikes. In the houses you find good maps for hikes. If you want to drive in our forest, you are free to use our 40 km of private forestry roads, which are all locked. The roads bring you up to a height of 600 meters over fjord level.
