Bårdshaug Herregård og Moderne Hotell
Located at the top of Orkdalsfjorden, at the heart of Orkanger and at the outflow of one of Norway’s best salmon rivers, the Orkla. The hotel has private salmon waters for exclusive hire. The manor house, Bårdshaug Herregård, was once the private and official residence of man of the world, Christian Thams.
Bårdshaug Herregård was Minister Christian Thams’ private and official residence during the last century. The library, which displays the evidence of Thams’ great passion and his hobby, big game hunting, is where our journey into Thams’ amazing story begins. The story of what would come to be Christian Thams’ life’s work belongs here, and we offer our guests an interesting tour of the manor.
From the great era of Christian Tham to the present day, Bårdshaug Herregård has had visitors that include: King Haakon VII, Belgian King Leopold, King Oscar II, Prince Albert of Monaco, King Olav V, King Harald and Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Håkon Magnus and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.
After agreement, it is possible to have dinner in your own living room in the Manor, or for aperitifs, coffee/after dinner drinks and/or guided tour. Prices by agreement.
