Galleri Svalbard has a selection of Norwegian and international historical material and contemporary art.
The permanent exhibition includes: The Kåre Tveter Collection – the painter of light, The Svalbard Collection – maps, banknotes and antique polar litterature, a shortmovie – showing the breathtaking nature in Svalbard, lithographies from the french Recherche Expedition and various art by both local and other Norwegian artists.
The art shop offers souvenirs, arts and crafts, and also includes a café.
The gallery's workshops are used by local and visiting craftsmen, designers and artists. Visitors are offered lodging and studios for both short- and longterm stays. Temporary exhibitions are organized 6-8 times a year.
