Eidfjord offers a unique natural environment. With large contrasts and small distances you can experience the most and best of what Norway has to offer. Large open spaces and high mountains. Deep valleys and blue-green fjords. Glaciers, mountain lakes, rivers and waterfalls. Luxurient fjord landscapes with green mountain sides and white mountain tops. The Hardangervidda is Europe’s largest mountain plateau and Norway’s largest national park. The rest of the community lies around the beautiful and well-known Hardangerfjord. You can do a hike in the mountains and go swimming in the Hardangerfjord 30 minutes later. In Eidfjord you get stimulating natural experiences.

Eidfjord has a lot to offer. The Vøringfoss waterfall is one of Norway’s best known and visited tourist attractions. The Sima hydroelectric power plant gives an impressive insight to how nature is utilized to make renewable electricity. The Kjeåsen mountain farm shows how people lived and subsisted in the olden days. The Bergslien art gallery displays local art. The Hardangervidda Nature Centre Eidfjord is a modern and exiting nature- and culture historical experience centre, with focus on Norwegian nature, climate and environment. You can also watch Ivo Caprino’s fantastic panoramic film, “Fjord, mountain and waterfall”. FlatEarth Adventures and Eidfjord Aktiv offers a large variety of activities and adventures that includes climbing/abseiling, sea kayaking, fun-rafting, guided snow-shoe trips, horse and carriage/sleigh rides and much more.
