Flåm - spectacular natural beauty, peace and harmony
Beautiful Flåm is situated in the innermost part of the Aurlandsfjord, a tributary of the 204 kilometres long and up to 1308 metres deep Sognefjord. Surrounded by steep mountainsides, roaring waterfalls and deep valleys, Flåm is a paradise for everyone looking for a one-of-a-kind experience with nature. There are many nearby attractions, exciting culture and historic traditions - Flåm are the perfect holiday resort for the entire family!

At the foot of the mountains you can enjoy the natural beauty and admire the majestic fjord from the panorama windows at one of Fjord Norway’s longestablished tourist hotel; Fretheim Hotel. Fretheim Hotel has traditions going all the way back to 1870 and has throughout the years been expanded and developed. The newest addition is the historical rooms with antique furniture’s and unique atmosphere. There is also a beautiful conference area and banquet rooms used for weddings and other gatherings.

Fretheim Hotel is extremely proud of the culinary heritage and the culinary philosophy The Conscious Cuisine ®. The main goal is to be aware of the origin, production method, quality and preparation of the food. The food served comes from the surrounding area. The co-operation with the local farmers ensures a steady supply of the finest raw materials.

Complement your stay with magnificent experiences in the Flåm area. We highly recommend the Flåm Railway, the incredible train journey between Flåm at the Aurlandsfjord to the mountain station Myrdal on the Bergen Railway. The train journey provides some of Norway's wildest and most magnificent scenery. On the 20 km-long train ride you can see rivers that cut through deep ravines, waterfalls cascade down the side of steep, snow-capped mountains and mountain farms cling dizzily to sheer slopes. The Flåm Railway is one of the world’s steepest railway lines on normal gauge. The twisting tunnels that spiral in and out of the mountain are manifestations of the most daring and skilful engineering in Norwegian railway history.

To learn more about Flåm Railway’s history and its technological development, we recommend a visit to Flåm Railway Documentation Centre in Flåm. The centre is located in the old station building only 100 metres from the Flåm Railway. We also highly recommend a hike in the Aurland or Flåm valley. To bring a local guide makes the hike even more interesting and exciting. How about a boat trip on the fjord with a visit to the small village Undredal - famous for its goat cheese? Or a bicycle trip along Rallarvegen, a trail from the mountains down to the fjord? We have a lot to show you.

Welcome to Flåm!
