Anglers Holidays in one of Norway's Best Sea Fishing Areas This area is famous for its thousands of islands and its proximity to the open sea. The Gulf-stream makes for a mild climate, even in winter. There are a lot of rich fishing-places among the innumerable small islands in the skerries, and the narrow straits and channels give the area its special character. There are many idyllic bays where you can ancher up your boat, take a swim and recover from dayly stress. Take 10 minutes westwards with a boat, and you are out on the North Sea, where the real big fishes of all kinds are waiting for you. The area has many beautiful paths, ranging from easy-walks to more challenging tracks. From the peak “Veten” (200 m) you will have a terrific view over the coast, the skerries and the North Sea, in good weather conditions you even can see to the oil-platform ”Troll” in the North Sea.. Byrknesøy is a small fishing-village with approx. 500 inhabitants in the County Sogn og Fjordane, 80 kms north of Bergen. The Gulen Fiskarbondemuseum has an interesting exhibition on life in this region in former days, and subjects used by local fishermen and farmers. | ||||||
