Åndalsnes – the peak capital of Norway – is beautifully located between the Romsdals mountains and the Romsdals fjord. Each summer Cruise ships call into the port, which is part of the city centre and the gateway to several famous natural attractions. Throughout the whole year we host exciting festivals and other activities. Our “city peak” the Nesaksla (715m above sea level) starts in the centre of town and rewards you with a spectacular view over the Romsdals fjord and peaks after only one hour hiking. Åndalsnes is start and finishing point for the spectacular Rauma line, through the wild and beautiful Romsdal valley with further connection to Oslo. A great variety of shops and restaurants is waiting for you and makes Åndalsnes a popular tourist attraction. The Romsdalsfjord is famous for fishermen - its clean water, and great variety of spieces. -In the area you will find also more than 200 different hiking-trails in the mountains.

The Troll Road - The road most visited by tourists in Norway!
Trollstigen - the most visited natural tourist attraction of Norway, (800 000 visitors in 2008). The road normally opens in May each summer. will open in 2010 as a National Tourist Road. The Trollstigen road was opened by King Haakon i 1936. 11 bends on the road climbs the mountain up to nearly 3000 feet and present a breathtaking view down into the valley and up to the remarkable peaks like Kongen, Dronningen and Bispen. The Trollstigen road continues to Geiranger or Ålesund. Walk the Trollstigen! - You can explore the old path by hiking along crystal clear rivers and waterfalls to the top of the view point.

Romsdalshorn - One of Norway’s classic climbing peaks
The majestic Romsdalshorn Mountain is an eternal symbol for both-tourism and mountain climbing that developed here in the late 19th century, when the Danish Carl Hall managed to be the first man to climb the Romsdalhorn after several attempts, just to find a man built rock pyramid on the top... Today the Romsdalshorn is a very popular goal for international climbers and a well-known postcard motiv.

The Troll Wall - Experience the Norwegian landscape - balm for the soul
The Trollwall, another tourist magnet, represents togther with the Trollpeaks, the Romsdalshorn peak and the Rauma river the ultimate in Norwegian landscape. The Trollwall, app. 6000 feet from bottom to top, provides some of the most challenging climbing routes of the world.

   

Rauma Rail Line - the most spectacular train-journey of Norway
The Rauma line passes right under the massive Trollwall. A fantastic train ride with slow driving and photo stops at the most spectacular sceneries. Guiding in several languages, comfortable modern trains with large windows, travelling over the old stone bridge “Kylling brua”, over the wild waterfalls and into the Stavem tunnel here the train makes a 180 degree turn inside the mountain and so to continue with an unforgettable view over the Romsdals valley.
